Voluntary Fire Brigade Blaževdol is celebrating 60th anniversary in 2004. Long back in 1944, March 14th, first founding meeting was held. Founding members were: Fučkan Ignac, Mikina Ljubomir, Fučkan Stjepan, Fučkan Tomo, Fučkan Juraj,Iviček Tomo, Fučkan Slavko, Fučkan Marko, Fučkan Petar, Fučkan Milan, Fučkan Josip, Fučkan Ivan, Iviček Ljubomir, Iviček Mirko, Bastalec Nikola, Litvić Ljubomir, Litvić Josip, Litvić Stjepan, Litvić Franjo, Litvić Marko, Litvić Josip, Litvić Stjepan, Litvić Mirko, Litvić Mikina Rudolf, Mikina Franjo, Mikina Josip, Antoloković Franjo, Štignjedec Stjepan and Grugan Mato.

In first few years they purchased the first DKV portable pump with their own recources. This pump still exists as exhibit. There was no facilities then, so members were forced to move the pump from house to house, depending on which member was able to provide appropriate space for it.

That was the case until 1961., when on August 2nd the building permit for fire dome was issued. Construction started in1962 and was finished in 1965.

VFB Blaževdol achieved great success at the end of 1960's and early 1970's. During that time VFB Blaževdol made fusion with chemical industry „Iskra“, which lasted one legislative period. At the same time, first vehicle was acquired and great fire protection activity was held along with the numerous competitions and firemen gatherings.

This generation of firemen is very important, as they were the ones who made foundations for the brigade and love towards firefighting among todays generation. They were mostly the fathers of present firefighters.

After great 1970's, a certain hiatus takes place and most of the equipment and fire dome was ruined due to lousy maintenance.

This lasts until 1996 when younger forces started to gather. With exeptance of president, all other board duties were taken by youngsters. First step was restoration of fire dome which was in pretty bad condition. Next thing in mind of young firemen was to acquire appropriate vehicle. Fire engine vehicle was logic choice as firemen wanted to participate actively in fire protection of Blaževdol and town area of Sveti Ivan Zelina. All of the inhabitants of Blaževdol donated money and 50% of the amount donated „Iskra“ chemical industry. This was enough to buy a used fire engine vehicle in Holland and to build two garages. With that equipment firemen started to fight fires as all of them were allready educated.

After that a water tank vehicle was provided and after several years of constant use, it was replaced by new, modern water tank vehicle.

Nowadays, VFB Blaževdol is named as Public fire brigade of town Sv. Ivan Zelina and alongside VFB Zelina is central fire brigade in firefighting plan of town area.

We are equipped with two fire engine vehicles and one water tank vehicle. 102 people are members of the brigade and 23 of them are members of intervention squad. This squad have about 50 interventions per year. Beside that, every summer our firemen are dislocated on island of Brač.
